Pure cocaine, along with the so-called “poor man’s cocaine” known as “crack,” is among the most widely abused substances in the world today.
The pure cocaine in powder form is usually mistaken as fine sugar or baking soda. The street variant called crack is diluted and mixed with baking soda, allowing the street pushers to reap more profits. People who become addicted to both cocaine and “crack” are considered to be among the worst addicts that can be found in a rehab clinic mainly because of the intense physical and mental health damage that prolonged use can lead to. There is an extensive list of negative effects associated with long-term use of “crack.” Withdrawal from crack addiction is also very difficult in physiological and psychological terms.
Nasal passages, which are the primary pathways by which cocaine gets into an addict’s body, can also suffer severe damage due to prolonged abuse. However, the damage tends to manifest only after the drug has been removed and withdrawal has occurred. Among the possible side effects of the damage are runny noses, nasal congestion, and nose bleeding. These side effects are relatively minor and can easily be treated by using the appropriate medications and having good environment, especially at home. During cocaine withdrawal, nasal problems are likely going to be the least of a recovering addict’s worries.
Panic attacks similar to those developed by people with panic disorders are not uncommon to both addicts and recovering users. This is more pronounced once a person undergoes withdrawal because there is no longer the psychologically “stabilizing” effect of the drug. Also, people undergoing withdrawal have become so used to having “crack” on hand that they are almost mentally incapacitated by being deprived of it. Insomnia is also a recognized side effect of being forcibly withdrawn from cocaine abuse. However, insomnia encountered during withdrawal has a shorter range of effect compared with regular cases of insomnia. Mild headaches and occasional periods of excessive fear and anxiety are also possible symptoms of prolonged abuse, though they are not considered common.
Muscle spasms are usually associated with the more violent cases of withdrawal. This is particularly common in those cases where the user has developed a dependency on the cocaine being in the system, such that the mind no longer believes the body can function without it. Muscle spasms are usually a minor indication of a worsening problem in cases such as this, since people who develop them tend to suffer more physically violent symptoms of drug withdrawal. These problems generally occur in the earlier stages of withdrawal, as the shock to the body being cut off from “crack” is still fresh. As the withdrawal sets in and the cleansing process is underway, the body slowly adjusts to a normal state and the likelihood of muscle spasms and convulsions decreases considerably.
Chronic pain in the chest and coughing have also been noted as possible symptoms. Some withdrawal patients report that the coughing can sometimes be accompanied by severe chest pains. Phlegm coughed up by these patients tend to be colored black and are generally not mixed with blood unless the patient has another respiratory condition. Coughing and phlegm of this sort also manifests in people that abuse marijuana or nicotine. This is generally alleviated by any number of over-the-counter cough medications or increased intake of water and other fluids.

0 CommentsContact lens wearers sometimes become so comfortable with daily use of their lenses that they wear them longer than they should. This can lead to eye irritation, increased inflammation, and perhaps even infection if the problem is not promptly treated.
It is important to follow the recommended guidelines for daily wear and report any problems to your doctor.
When you are fitted for contact lenses, your doctor will explain how to get your eyes used to wearing them. Typically, you begin wearing the lenses two to four hours daily, and increase your wear by an hour or two each day until you reach a daily maximum of ten to twelve hours. Whether you wear hard, soft, or disposable lenses, it is important to follow your doctor’s recommended guidelines. Dispose of temporary lenses at the suggested time rather than over use them, as this can lead to eye infections, even though you may not first experience warning symptoms, like redness or blurred vision.
Another guideline to follow is the recommended cleaning schedule for your lenses. Don’t forget to rinse them in the saline solution that was in your lens kit provided by the doctor. Rinse your lenses each time you wear them, and do the regular cleaning with tablets or special solution, as directed. Don’t skimp to save money or time, as bacteria can quickly multiply and cause eye problems if you don’t keep up with your cleaning schedule. Never use water to rinse or clean your lenses, as this can damage them. Avoid trying another solution other than the one that was prescribed. If you develop eye symptoms, like irritation, redness, or itchiness, let your doctor know, and he or she may switch the solution in case you are allergic to it. Don’t forget to clean the case after each use, and wash your hands before putting in or taking out your lenses.
Never sleep in your contact lenses. Although they may soon feel quite comfortable, keeping them in your eyes overnight may cause eye irritation, and perhaps even damage your eye. Avoid leaving the lenses in for long periods of time, like 16 to 20 hours, when you are taking a road trip or studying for an exam, for example. Keep a pair of reading glasses available for times like these.
You should plan on getting an annual eye exam to check for changes in your vision. Failing to do so may cause eyestrain if your contact lenses are no longer strong enough to maintain clear vision. Your eye doctor can check also for signs of redness or irritation that you may not be able to detect.
Though your contact lenses may seem easy to wear and care for, never take them for granted. Follow professional guidelines and recommendations to get the best use from them, and to keep your lenses, as well as your eyes, in the best possible condition for as long as possible. If you lose a lens in your eye, experience a tearing or painful sensation, or have vision disturbances, let your doctor know right away.

Breast implants are made from a silicone plastic shell filled with either silicone gel or salt water (saline). The FDA approved the use of silicone gel-filled breast implants in November, 2006, following a long moraturium.
You can read more about silicone implants here.
A variety of different techniques can be used in performing breast augmentation, and the best procedure for each individual is selected based upon their unique anatomy, needs and preferences. Either silicone or saline-filled implants may be used, and many different styles of implant are available. Implants are selected depending upon the surgical needs of the patient
Breast augmentation surgery typically can be performed in one to two hours, and the patient may return home within a few hours after the procedure. Local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia may be chosen. Surgical incisions may be placed at the edge of the areola (the pigmented area around the nipple), in the crease under the breast, or in the armpit area. The breast implant may be located either under the breast gland, or in a deeper layer under the chest muscle (pectoralis major), depending on the needs of a given patient.
After the surgery, oral pain medication is typically sufficient to keep the patient comfortable, as discomfort is not severe. Stitches are removed within seven to ten days after surgery. Most patients can return to work about one week after surgery, although the surgeon may recommend wearing a support bra or tape for a few weeks. While most bruising resolves in a week or two, some swelling may persist for four to six weeks or longer, depending on the surgical technique used, and the individual patient.

How far would you go to be the fairest of them all? In Elizabethan times, women rubbed lead on their face and mercury in their lips to achieve beauty.
The health problems were innumerable and serious. During the Italian Renaissance, a certain Signor Toffano created an arsenic-laced face powder. This lovely little gimmick was marketed as a way for rich women to rid themselves of their unwanted husbands. One flick of a powder puff was enough to see him buried. Today we would baulk at such a risk but we still happily slather ourselves in chemicals so strong they are handled with protective clothing in laboratories. Is it possible the cosmetic industry is still peddling beauty to die for? How do we know, after all just reading the ingredient list in a moisturiser seems to require a biology degree.
Lets start with the ubiquitous sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). This chemical is used in almost everything from toothpaste to shampoos. But its side effects can include eczema, irritated eyes and skin (with prolonged exposure) and possible inflammation and infection of the urinary tract and vagina. Checking children’s products to make sure they use the less harsh sodium laureth sulphate is a good idea as SLS has been shown to permanently damage children’s eyes.
Other dodgy ingredients include EDC’s. These gender-bending chemicals are linked to falling sperm counts in men. Some, like Nonylphenol used in cosmetics, Butylated hydroxy anisole (BHA) and E320 (which can leach into cosmetics from PVC containers) are restricted by the EU with a defined tolerable daily intake. However, overtime they build up in our body tissues and some experts consider there is no safe level for use.
Alpha hydroxy Acid (AHA). The cosmetic industrys favourite discovery AHA and BHAs are fruit and milk sugar exfoliates respectively. They work by rubbing off the outer layer of skin to expose the younger-looking? skin beneath. They cannot, as advertisers suggest, permanently improve your skin. In fact, they could ruin it. The epidermis (top layer) of skin is an important barrier protecting the body from UV rays and chemicals we come in contact with. The body’s natural reaction to having it rubbed away is to create a thicker tougher epidermis, trapping you into a cycle of exfoliating. If you choose to regularly use products containing AHA’s then you will also need to use a stronger sunscreen. AHA’s have only been around ten years and their long-term effects are still unknown.
Natural products and extracts show the beauty industry has got wise to our desire for a more natural life. But too often “natural” ranges are just repackaged old products with small amounts of “extracts” added to keep the consumer happy. Really ?natural? products may also need higher levels of preservatives to keep them from going off, and so end up with the same number of chemicals found in all cosmetics and toiletries. Finally of course natural products such as plants and animal extracts can easily be as poisonous as chemicals.
Baby soft skinBabies and young children are particularly susceptible to infection, so products for children under three must have 50 times less microbes then adult products- according to EU law. This does mean they have many more preservatives in them- including benzoates. Benzoates can cause gastric irritation, mouth numbing and urticara and are often used in baby wipes. Perhaps the best option is to choose products with the smallest list of ingredients possible, and use baby soap and water where possible.
Animal magicThe Romans once painted their nails with a mixture of animal blood and fat. While this would horrify the public today there are a surprising number of animal products on our bathroom shelves. If you are a vegetarian this can make life difficult. Some animal-derived ingredients are pretty easy to spot other telltale names include:
Tallow, CI 77267, CI 77268, Collagen, Elastin, Gelatin, Hyaluronic Acid Keratin, Musk, Serum Albumin, Unipertan
Even if cosmetics say they have not been tested on animals, the individual ingredients are sure to have been tested, but not necessarily by the manufacturer.
Are you worth it?
Before you get too alarmed remember few people suffer serious health problems from cosmetics although many find certain products don’t agree with them. Buying simpler products, that don’t make us pay for wildly unrealistic advertising is probably a good idea. Cosmetics and toiletries can clean us, make us smell sweeter and enhance our looks but for real health and beauty, throwing money at the beauty counter is not an answer.
Boring but true: the only way to make your skin and hair healthier, and eyes brighter are the old tried and tested methods of health and nutrition. This means eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water and getting enough sleep. It also means staying out of the sun, exercising regularly and quitting smoking. It may not come in the most glamorous package- but your body and health are definitely worth it.

One great way for a diet program to promote their diet is using their client’s success stories regarding weight loss. Before and after pictures are great visual effects.
When watching television ads for diet programs like Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig you will often see the ads use before and after photos of their clients.
Another way that makes us want to give these diets a try is when they use celebrities to promote their products. Since celebrities are usually in the public eye you get to see them lose weight over time. Some celebrities’ that come to mind are Kirstie Alley, Anna Nicole Smith, Dan Marino, and Oprah Winfrey.
Kristie Alley is advertising in commercials for Jenny Craig and is really starting to show her weight loss. Follow Kirstie Alley success online through her online weight loss journal. She even has her own blog that she posts to. Find out what Kirstie is up to and how she is doing on the Jenny Craig diet. Just do a search for “Kirstie Alley Blog” on one of the main search engines.
Anna Nicole Smith sure changed her figure while endorsing the TrimSpa product. I remember watching the Howard Stern Show awhile back and he was trying to get her to use this product. Looks like she decided to and became one oh their spokespersons. TrimSpa gained quite a bit of exposure by having Anna endorse this product. The current news on Anna is now she is pregnant. So I would say some weight gain is in her future.
Dan Marino is presently promoting the Men’s Nutrisystem Diet Program and there is an upcoming contest starting in Sept. You will have the chance to win a Dan Marino jersey and a chance to win tickets to the big game. Start losing weight now. The contest will ask for before and after photos and your story regarding weight loss using Nutrisystem.
Oprah Winfrey lost weight with the help of Bob Greene. Now Oprah is trying to help people lose weight. She is calling the diet “Boot Camp”. The Boot Camp diet gives advice on exercising, eating right, has discussion boards and much more…
We are bombarded with diet programs advertised on TV. Which one is right for you?
Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers…? Remember everyone is different and a diet that works for someone else may not be right for you. Work with your Doctor to help find the healthiest and safest diet for you. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

0 CommentsMultiple sclerosis is an inflammatory neurological disease which generates a wide symptomatic spectrum. Multiple sclerosis primarily affects the central nervous system, interfering with the normal activity of the nervous cells.
Multiple sclerosis involves deterioration of the neurons’ myelin, a very important substance that facilitates the transmission of nervous signals between nervous cells. If myelin is affected, the connections between neurons are compromised and the body fails to respond promptly to external stimuli.
Multiple sclerosis can cause various dysfunctions in different regions of the body, causing a wide range of physical, neurological and psychological manifestations. The deterioration of myelin can affect the body’s motor functions, causing difficulty walking, loss of dexterity, poorly coordinated moves, loss of balance; sensorial functions, causing decreased visual acuity, altered perceptions of external stimuli; and cognitive functions, causing poor mental performance, loss of concentration and even memory loss. In some cases, multiple sclerosis can even interfere with the normal activity of the internal organs, causing renal affections and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
Due to the complex nature of multiple sclerosis symptoms, it is virtually impossible to diagnose the disease relying solely on patients’ external manifestations. The symptoms generated by neurological diseases have an unspecific character, thus making the process of multiple sclerosis diagnosis even more difficult. Hence, multiple sclerosis can be correctly diagnosed only after performing elaborate physical examinations and various laboratory tests.
Multiple sclerosis diagnosis involves the accumulation of various suggestive data through the means of specific medical procedures and laboratory analyses. The first step in the process of multiple sclerosis diagnosis usually involves the examination of patients’ motor functions. People with this type of neurological disease generally have trouble walking and maintaining their balance. Loss of dexterity, muscle weakness and poorly coordinated moves are also suggestive signs for multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Furthermore, sensorial dysfunctions, such as decreased vision, are very common to people with neurological diseases and an important multiple sclerosis diagnosis criterion involves looking for signs of internuclear ophthalmoplegia (double, blurred vision).
The process of multiple sclerosis diagnosis often involves MRI scans and lumbar puncture. MRI scans (magnetic resonance imaging) are an important step in confirming the multiple sclerosis diagnosis. MRI scans verify the integrity of the nervous system, using magnetic waves for generating pictures. If MRI scans can sometimes be inconclusive in the process of multiple sclerosis diagnosis, lumbar puncture is a reliable criterion in verifying the presence of neurological disease. Through the means of lumbar puncture, doctors are able to inspect the state of the spinal cord’s fluid, checking for evidence of inflammation at the level of the nervous system.
Neuropsychological tests are also very important in the process of multiple sclerosis diagnosis. The aim of these tests is to find evidence of compromised mental performance due to destruction of myelin. Most patients with neurological diseases often suffer from poor concentration, decreased judgment and even short-term memory loss and the main purpose of neuropsychological tests is to reveal the presence of these symptoms. Another important step in establishing the multiple sclerosis diagnosis involves looking for signs of depression, as more than 80 percent of people affected by this type of neurological disease eventually become depressed.
Multiple sclerosis diagnosis is very complex and requires various medical procedures and tests for revealing conclusive signs of the disease. Most patients are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis only if more than two specific tests confirm the presence of neurological dysfunctions.

0 CommentsCancer. It’s perhaps the most frightening word in the English language. Although our medical system has made tremendous advances in the last few decades the grand prize of them all, the holy grail of medical science - a cancer cure - continues to elude researchers.
A cancer diagnosis is serious business. This disease claims over a half million lives each year in the United States alone. Cancer, in its many forms, has the ability to threaten each and every one of us no matter what our age.
Most Common Cancers:
The four most common types of cancer are prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and colorectal cancer. Although cancer death rates have been slowly declining for years, the death rate for prostate cancer remains 28.0 per 100,000. The death rate for breast cancer is 25.4 per 100,000. Colorectal cancer has the lowest death rate of the top four cancers, coming in at 19.6 per 100,000. The highest death rate is attributed to lung cancer at 54.8 per 100,000 (Source: Randolph E. Schmid; Associated Press).
Although researchers haven’t yet discovered a fail-proof cancer treatment, early detection can greatly improve the odds of survival. Screening tests that can find the first sign of cancer are becoming more popular. “As of 2003, 69.7 percent of women over 40 had a mammogram in the last two years, up from just 29 percent in 1987…..79.2 percent had a pap test for cervical cancer” (Source: Randolph E. Schmid; Associated Press).
How To Lower The Risk Of Most Cancers:
There is no cancer center or alternative cancer treatment that can promise a cure. However, it’s important to note that we do have the power to raise or lower our cancer risk. In fact, the choices we make in everyday life have a surprisingly large impact on our chances of contracting cancer. “Evidence suggests that one third of the 550,000 cancer deaths that occur in the United States each year are due to unhealthy diet and insufficient physical activity” (Source: Dr. Tim Byers and Colleen Doyle, MS, RD of the American Cancer Society).
Experts, such as those at the American Cancer Society, point to several behavior modifications that can be made to lower the risk of cancer. For example, wearing sun-block and minimizing exposure to the sun can lower the risk of skin cancer. Reducing or stopping smoking altogether will lower the risk of many types of cancer, including mouth cancer and throat cancer. Other lifestyle changes that may lower cancer risk include limiting the consumption of alcohol and high-fat foods.
Although rarely mentioned in the major media, scientists are now realizing that perhaps the biggest cause of cancer in our society today is lack of exercise. As a matter of fact, it’s no understatement to say that the best cancer insurance you can purchase today is to invest in a gym membership.
“For the majority of Americans who do not smoke, eating a healthful diet and being physically active are the most important ways to reduce cancer risk” (Source: Dr. Tim Byers and Colleen Doyle, MS, RD of the American Cancer Society). Regular exercise helps you maintain a healthy weight, which is important for cancer prevention. Overweight or obese individuals have a higher risk of several cancers, including breast and colon cancer, esophageal cancer, and kidney cancers.
“Being overweight works in a variety of ways to increase cancer risk. These include mechanical ways in which abdominal obesity leads to acid reflux into the esophagus, and hormonal ways, in which obesity increases circulating levels of hormones such as estrogen and insulin that can stimulate cancer growth. Achieving an ideal weight need not be the first goal, though, as substantial benefits can come from first stopping weight gain, then beginning to achieve a modest amount of weight loss.” (Source: Dr. Tim Byers and Colleen Doyle, MS, RD of the American Cancer Society). The single best way to obtain weight loss and normalize hormonal balance is through regular exercise.
The Calle Study:
Researcher Eugenia Calle, PhD, in a study published in Thursday’s New England Journal of Medicine (Vol. 348, No. 17: 1625-1638), found that overweight and obesity may account for 20% of all cancer deaths in US women and 14% in US men. That means 90,000 cancer deaths could be prevented each year if Americans could only maintain a normal, healthy body weight.
According to the research done by Calle and her colleagues, the heaviest men in the study had death rates from all cancers combined that were 52% higher than the rates among normal-weight men. The heaviest women had cancer death rates 62% higher than normal-weight women.
Adding to the conclusions of previous studies, Calle found that being overweight or obese was linked to uterus cancer, kidney cancer, esophagus cancer, rectal cancer, and cancers of the gallbladder, colon, and breast (in postmenopausal women).
Because obesity increases a woman’s risk of developing the disease in the first place, and her risk of dying from it once she has it, the effects on breast cancer are compounded, Calle said,
The researchers also found that many types of cancer that were not previously linked to obesity were indeed impacted by excess body weight. Those included cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, stomach cancer (in men), prostate cancer and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and multiple myeloma.
“Overweight and obesity has a very broad impact on cancer across most cancer sites,” Calle said. “That’s not something that’s really in the consciousness of the American people.” In fact, in an American Cancer Society survey conducted in 2002, just 1% of Americans identified maintaining a healthy weight as a way to reduce cancer risk.
Additional Studies Reinforce The Cancer/Exercise Link:
Besides the Calle research, there are multiple studies proving a link between regular exercise and a lower risk of cancer.
“A longitudinal study of Harvard alumni found that highly active or even moderately active individuals had a substantially lower risk of developing both colon and lung cancer than alumni who were less active or sedentary” (Source: Cedric X. Bryant, Ph.D., ACE’s Chief Exercise Physiologist).
“Heart disease and diabetes get all the attention, but expanding waistlines increase the risk for at least nine types of cancer, too. And with the obesity epidemic showing no signs of waning, specialists say they need to better understand how fat cells fuels cancer growth so they might fight back. What’s already clear: Being overweight can make it harder to spot tumors early, catch recurrences, determine the best chemotherapy dose, even fit into radiation machines. That in turn hurts chances of survival. One major study last year estimated that excess weight may account for 14 percent to 20 percent of all cancer deaths — 90,000 a year.” (Source: LAURAN NEERGAARD, AP Medical Writer; Mon Aug 23, 9:09 PM ET).
The Bottom Line:
The most important behavior we can adopt to minimize our risk of cancer is to stay active and maintain a healthy weight through regular exercise. Adults should exercise at least thirty minutes each day, but with exercise more is better. Diet is important, too. The American Cancer Society recommends eating five or more servings of fruit and vegetables every day, choosing whole grains over processed grains, and limiting red meat. Of course, alcohol consumption and smoking should also be curtailed to lower the risk of most cancers.
Cancer research continues, and new cancer drugs are being developed even now. Here in the United States we are extremely fortunate to have some of the finest cancer treatment centers in the world. But we still do not have a cancer cure. Until we do, protect yourself by exercising regularly and eating a healthy low-fat diet full of vegetables.

0 CommentsAs a society we must determine what our ethical responsibility is to those whose physical and mental impairments make it impossible for them to provide for themselves.
Many government agencies have been created in an effort to address this responsibility but, as many Alzheimer families have found, the resources available at this time are limited.
Is it necessary that a family be reduced to poverty before we, as a society, are willing to assist? One family that we interviewed had been forced to divorce in order to obtain the benefits necessary to maintain their household and still meet the health care expenses. Homes are frequently sold and retirement benefits are quickly exhausted. These issues are before our government and the wider public, but their resolution has not yet been accomplished.
Despite the acknowledged limitations in available support, there are programs designed to assist caregivers in their search for social services. Virginia A. Seelbach and Wayne C. Seelbach guide caregivers toward those who can help.
Finding The Right Services
It is essential to know how to access programs available for the neurologically impaired. Whenever problems emerge with any elderly person, the local Area Agency on Aging is the very best place to obtain initial information about services available in your community. While not a provider of direct services, it can very effectively serve a brokerage function of assessing needs and identifying appropriate and available resources. Since there is a local Area Agency on Aging available in every community in the United States, there is immediate access to information regarding community resources that can aid the elderly in general and victims of Alzheimer’s disease in particular. To contact your Area Agency on Aging, check your telephone directory under “Area Agency on Aging” in the white pages, or “Social Services” in the yellow pages.

0 CommentsIf you are experiencing mood swings, hot flashes, stress, cramps, and PMS, you need the calming effect of chasteberry. For menstrual and reproductive health, chasteberry is taken in capsule form.
Women in their reproductive years will get relief from premenstrual symptoms, and have a healthy sex drive. In men, this will support healthy progesterone levels. The herb is combined with other herbs to produce the desired results. For women entering into menopause, the herb in cream formulation will help minimize the discomfort brought about by hot flashes. Using the cream in small amounts on the body morning and evening for 21 days will regulate the monthly periods. The berry is also used to treat endemetriosis in women. Overall, the herb can promote better sleep, concentration, cellular support, digestion, and increase energy levels.
Chasteberry is a potent ingredient in medications for fibroid cysts, help clear acne disorders, and even prevent miscarriages in pregnant women. Chasteberry contain flavoniods, iridoid, terpenoids and glycosides. The action of these compounds on the pituitary glands and the production of the luteinizing hormone create a positive effect on women’s periods; it is thought that this hormone can assist women become pregnant. As a fertile aid, it will restore the hormonal balance while promoting the health of the reproductive system. If you use this as an aid for fertility, follow the directions prescribed.
The use of chasteberry was made popular by a German pharmaceutical firm in the 1950s. It has become a regular prescription for premenstrual syndromes. The body produces prolactin. During pregnancy this is a natural occurrence. However, when it is produced to high levels in women who are not pregnant; it will cause painful breast tenderness. Chasteberry herb reduces PMS symptoms by regulating the release of prolactin. Women have resorted to this natural drug when their menses have stopped. However, women are advised to see a physician as there may be underlying causes for the cessation of the menses during the reproductive years.
This berry is found in the Mediterranean area. The berry is the fruit of the chaste tree, which is a small shrub with blue flowers. The shrub grows to a height between 1 to 5 meters. It thrives well under full sun and partial shade. The dark berries are picked when ripe between the months of October and November. Before these are processed, these are dried under the sun. For medications, the fleshy part of the berry is used. The berries contain glycocides, flavonids, and essential oils. The berry was used for centuries to cure menstrual cramps and pains. In the modern times, studies showed that there was no adverse effect on women taking chasteberry-based medication. Chasteberry supplements are available in tablets, tea, cream, and tincture forms. The benefits of the berry fruit of the chaste shrub cannot be ignored. It would do well to take the supplements to calm pains and cramps as well improve sexual vigor. Side effects such as stomach upsets in rare cases may be experienced.
